Helping the University to manage its information
The Records Management Section provides help and advice to all units of the
University on information management issues including records management
practices and procedures, data protection and freedom of information. We
are also responsible for the Central Records Registry and the day-to day management of the records of
the central administrative areas formerly known as Policy and Planning.

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act and Environmental
Information Regulations (Scotland) give members of the public the right
to access to information held by the University. Find out how this affects you.

The Data Protection Act 1998 governs rights of access to information
about individuals and the University's responsibilities regarding that
information. Find out how this affects you.

If the University holds information about you, you have a right
to see it under the Data Protection Act. All members of the public
also have a right to ask for other information held by the
University under Freedom of Information.

Consultancy and external training
The Records Management Section provides
briefings and consultancy services to external bodies.

Central Records Registry
The Central Records Registry manages the records of the central administrative areas
of the University formerly known as Policy and Planning, including the Principal's Office, Governance and Strategic Planning and
Academic Affairs.
