Division of Responsibilities between NHS Lothian and the University of Edinburgh

This document is intended for all individuals who have contracts of employment (including honorary contracts) with both NHS Lothian and the University of Edinburgh. It gives guidance as to the division between the two organisations of freedom of information and environmental information responsibilities. The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 give the public rights of access to information held by 'Scottish public authorities'. For the purposes of this legislation, both the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian are defined as 'Scottish public authorities'.
