Commercial ConfidentialityThe University of Edinburgh is a member of the Scottish Higher Education Information Practitioners Group (SHEIP), which has produced the following guidance document. This paper examines the effect of the freedom of information exemptions that may be most relevant to commercially sensitive information held by Higher Education Institutions. Requests for information previously withheld on the grounds of commercial confidentially may arise in relation to many areas of activity. This paper provides general guidance on FOI and commercial confidentiality and key issues to consider when responding to requests for information that may arise in a HEI context.
